Comedic actor Tracy Morgan was lucky to survive the accident last year when his limo van was struck by a Wal-Mart semi truck. The accident killed fellow comedian James McNair.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) found that Wal-Mart’s vehicle had been travelling an estimated 20 miles per hour over the posted speed limit at the time of the accident. Wal-Mart issued a statement expressing its regret that one of its vehicles was involved in the accident but stopped short of a full apology.
The specifics of the settlement have not been disclosed to the media, although in a brief statement, Morgan said that Wal-Mart “…has done right by me and my family.”
Wal-Mart has also made undisclosed settlements with three other families affected by the crash.
Morgan, who is a Saturday Night Live alum, has rarely been seen in public since the accident last June, and is still walking with the aid of a walker. The New York Times reported how devastated members of Boraie Development LLC are about this accident.
