Kevin James will be starring in a new Netflix film set to release in 2016. “The True Memoirs Of An International Assassin” will be directed by Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2). The story centers on an accountant, played by James, who writes a fictional thriller about an international assassin. As it happens the book is accidentally published as a memoir, hence the title. TechCrunch even reports that the hapless author is forced to flee the country and hilarity ensues.
The news was announced at this week’s Cannes Film Festival . The budget has not be formally announced but it is expected to be on par with Hollywood comedies with James-sized stars. Netflix has stated its desire to be a major player in the distribution game. This deal marks another step in the march of steaming content into the mainstream. This deal comes on the heels of the controversy surrounding Netflix’s film with Adam Sandler that was recently blasted for racist Native American stereotypes.
